Native to Mexico, it is a "tree-like plant" that can reach 10m in height and has a trunk that is widened at the base where it stores water. Because of this, some say it is a tree, others say it is a succulent, and others say it is a palm due to its appearance with the crown of leaves.
It does not like the cold; its temperature range is between 5ºC and 41ºC.
Regarding watering, it cannot withstand waterlogging, tolerates moderate watering, and should be allowed to dry between waterings.
It blooms in spring with vertical panicles that can exceed one meter in length and is dioecious.
Fruiting can only occur if there are two nearby specimens, one male and one female, with the help of pollinators, between summer and autumn.
In itself, the nolina is a very special plant.
