It is native to the regions near the Caspian Sea.
It is a woody, deciduous climbing plant that can be found in vine format when it does not exceed one meter in height or in vine format when it is allowed to grow taller and is guided by a structure that supports the weight of the branches and fruits. In the wild, it can reach 20m in length.
It is very cold-resistant, capable of withstanding from -20ºC to 34ºC.
Drought-tolerant, it requires moderate watering, avoiding excess moisture.
Flowering occurs between the end of May and the beginning of June, in clusters.
The fruit "grape" is a berry, harvested according to variety and use, from late summer to mid-autumn, with some varieties even being harvested in winter.
