Originating from South America (Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay)
Ornamental tree, which can reach 10-20m in height.
Not very tolerant to cold, temperatures below 0 are harmful and it can withstand up to 35 ºC.
They need constant moisture, without waterlogging.
Blooms at the end of March, beginning of April, and occasionally can lead to another flowering in autumn, although this is less abundant. Its flowers are arranged in vertical clusters at the end of the branches and are a bluish-violet color.
Its fruit, between September/December, is a woody capsule that opens when mature and releases the winged seeds inside with the wind.
